After you’ve impressed or sparked a girl’s interest online, you’ve got to be able to continue the charisma when you meet her face to face. Unlike writing someone an email or sending them an instant message, you have to be fully prepared. 1. Hygiene
Being clean seems to be something that goes unsaid. This ties in with dressing and looking well anytime you will be in the public eye. Believe it or not men may not see fit to showering, shaving and dressing appropriately for a first date. One of the worst things you could do when going out on a date (especially if it is your first date) is to turn up unshaven, looking dirty and smelling. Women tend to be very clean and will certainly be looking to see how hygienic her date is.
This does not mean that you have to go out and buy the most expensive cologne, new clothes and pay $150 for a hair cut. It cost nothing to hop in the shower, shave and to put on an ironed shirt and pants. Point: A woman loves a well dressed man who smells good. Clean it up.
2. Be Prompt
You should treat this like an interview. The last thing you should do is show up late. This may give the impression that you really aren’t that into the idea of going out on the date or into her. If you are picking her up from her home then it is advisable to turn up five minute before you are due. If you show up earlier than that, she may not be quite ready. Five minutes early is the earliest you should arrive. But never be late.
3. Come Baring Gifts
Women are not expecting to get a gift on a first date. Surprise her. This will show her that you are a thoughtful man. What is a thoughtful gift? Hopefully while chatting online and reading her profile you were able to pick up on some things that she may like. If you know that she likes tea or coffee, find her a nifty thermos that she could use for work or traveling. This would make a great first date gift. For a generic thoughtful gift, buy a box of Godiva chocolates. That's always appropriate without being overboard.
4. Chivalry is Alive
Hold the door open for her, let her walk through the doors first, pull her chair, and be polite to her along with the people around you. Women like to feel special and to be treated like a lady. This will leave her thing that you are an awesome guy.
5. Compliment Her
Hopefully she is everything that you were attracted to over the internet and more. One of the first things that you should do is tell her how beautiful she looks. Keep up the compliments throughout your date, but do not go over board (3-4 for the night should be more than enough). If you don’t feel it don’t say it, because she will be able to tell if you are being genuine.
