Now that I have your attention, let me assure you that I do not believe bisexual women are easy. In fact I am one. However, the assumption that bisexual women are easy is one of the most common misconceptions of us. I would like to address some common stereotypes of bisexual women this evening, including the “easy” ones.
Bisexual Women = Threesome
Every time I have ever asked people why bisexual women are more accepted than all other alternative sexual lifestyles, they have answered with some variation of “because the ultimate fantasy for a man is watching two females go at it.” I want to extend that hypothesis a little farther: I believe that one of the most common fantasies for men is the concept of watching two or more
females behave sexually toward one another for their personal pleasure, and they often make the assumption that they will get to have sex with both.
Bisexual Women = Promiscuous
We are not any more promiscuous than our hetero-peers. (Some of us are more slutty than others, but have you seen girls gone wild? Those heteros are, too.) Just because we like to kiss girls and boys doesn’t mean we are sluts. We have feelings and want healthy relationships much the same.
Bisexual Women = Disposable
We are not your toys to include in your sexual fantasies and then to discard as used up when we have fulfilled our role. Some swingers refer to single, bisexual women who play with couples as unicorns due to their rarity and magical sexuality. Unicorns deserve respect, and treating them like they are a tool to spice up your marriage requires that you provide them with said respect. Their fantasies should be considered, too.
In conclusion…
Examine your stereotypes, and reconsider us. Oh…and Bar-bi’s, girls who make out with their friends in bars for attention, perpetuate all of these. Hey sisters, either go fully bi so we can have more than a forced kiss and/or stop making men think we are bisexual for THEIR pleasure. I assure you, the pleasure of being bi belongs to us.
